Shown in Cass County Draft Registration records as a 21-year-old man with previous military service in the the “1st IL Artillery” and a residence in Arenzville township in 1863, but no man with this name (or various versions of spelling of the last name) is found on the rolls of that unit. However, a John H. Plank, who entered service from Arenzville is found (see below).
