A George was a younger brother of William Jackson Green and James Riley Green (Jacksonville). James R. was a captain of Co G, 18th IL Consolidated. George resided in Arenzville at the time he entered service. After the war, he worked on his father’s farm and was employed by the railroad. For a brief time, he was hospitalized at the veterans’ home in Quincy. He died in Detroit, MI, where his daughter lived, and he is buried in Beardstown.
